The Mind Is Found in None of the Seven
阿難七次所指，都是「緣塵分別」的妄心——隨外境生、隨外境滅的識心。佛七番徵問，不是要找出妄心藏在哪裡，而是要當下拆穿它「了不可得」，好讓常住真心、性淨明體顯現。 宣化上人云：阿難仍把生滅的妄心當作真心，正是「認賊為子」。All seven of Ānanda’s answers point to the conditioned, discriminating mind—the consciousness that arises and ceases along with perceived objects. The Buddha’s sevenfold questioning is not meant to locate that false mind, but to show on the spot that it cannot be found at all, so that the everlasting true mind, the pure bright essence of one’s nature, may come to light. As Master Hsüan Hua says, Ānanda still mistakes his deluded mind for his true mind—he has “mistaken a burglar for his own child.”
